The passage and the professor both discuss genetic modification, a method of cultivation, and count some advantages and disadvantages of it. The passage asserts that this strategy is useful for nature and the environment; however, the lecturer has an opposite opinion.
First, the passage claims that these trees are durable and can stand undamaged in bad condition, yet the professor says that these kinds of trees maybe tolerate during a specific harsh climate or when they are faced with invasion of some kinds of insects but they can not be like this in other conditions and what if new situation appears? Can they stand against it again? What about new insects can they bear the attack of new insects, which were not there before and the trees have not assigned to be conservated in their presence? she believes they can not. If the trees were natural, because of a diversity of them, it might possible that one kind of tree damaged but others could stand and the whole place would not become empty, but in another case, all trees become genetic modification type, they all will perish together.
Secondly, the passage states that these kinds of trees grow faster than other trees and it will help farmers to get their revenue faster which will help the economy of the area. nevertheless, the professor believes that because of some severe laws about this kind of plants the farmers not only will not get good profits but also it will not be good investment for them, because they have to pay great amount of money to main company for each plant that they put in the soil, this is only one example of hidden costs of these trees. in additional, seeds of this plants are really expensive.
Finally, the passage mentions the fact that these trees grow really fast and it has many benefits for environments because people and factories can use them in producing timber or other things which have tectonic usage or in other fields and natural trees do not need to be cut because of these usages. on the other hand, the lecturer overline another disadvantage of them which is relative to their faster-growing attribute. She agrees that they grow fast and in her opinion, it might have bad effects on surrounding vegetation, she highlights that supplies, soil's minerals, sunlight, and area's water, are not infinite. if they grow fast so they use more of these essential supplies, thereby there is nothing left for other trees. She strongly believes that it will harm all other trees.
