the consumption of fast food in UK
The given line graph illustrates the amount of fast food consumed in the UK between 1970 and 1990, namely fish & chips, hamburger and pizza. Overall, the quantities of fast food eaten had doubled within this period of time. The consumption of hamburger, fish and chips had increased sharply over the course of 20 decades from 1970 while the number of pizzas eaten per week experienced an opposite pattern.
In 1970, pizza touched the peak of just above 300 grams per week but had a slight downward trend for the next 15 years. Meanwhile, the amount of hamburger and fish & chips eaten were respectively at about 30 grams and 80 grams. In 1985, the consumption of fish and chips increased dramatically by approximately 200 grams and hamburger’s figure saw a rapid rise to well over 100 grams per week.
On the other hand, pizza moderately declined from 300 grams to 200 grams for fish & chips to reach the highest point. Over the last 5 years to 1990, hamburger experienced a 3-fold increase by just below 200 grams consumed while fish & chips quickly increased from 300 grams to the peak of 500 grams. Despite a great start, the consumption of pizza ended up with just above 200 grams at the rock bottom point.
