Overall, while the UK had the highest average carbon dioxide emission per person over the period shown, average carbon dioxide per person in Portugal and Sweden had the lowest metric tons(mt) even though they started to increase year by year.
According to the data, average carbon dioxide per person for Portugal stood at about 3 mt. This number increased gradually and reached to 5 mt. in 2007. Another noticeable increase can be seen for Italy. Average carbon dioxide emission per person increased from 5 mt to 7 mt in 1967 and 2007, respectively.
Looking at the countries who experienced decrease in their average carbon dioxide emissions per person in more detail, it can be seen that Sweden stood at 7 mt in 1967. This number kept increasing to 11 mt. until 1977. Then, it started fall slightly to 7 mt. and 6 mt.in 1987 and 1997, respectively. Finally, Sweden had its lowest decrease in 2007 at 5 mt. Another country which experience decrease in carbon emission per person was the United Kingdom. It stood at 11 mt. which was the highest average number compared to other countries in 1967. This number had a noticeable decrease to 7 mt. in 2007. Even though, the UK experience its lowest number in average carbon dioxide emissions per person, its number was still the highest compared to other countries in 2007.
