The graphs below show the size of ozone hole over Antarctica an the production of three ozone-damaging gases from 1980 to 2000. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The two graphs depict the changes in the size of the ozone hole in Antarctic and three different types of destructive gases damaging the aforesaid ozone hole during 1980 and 2000 respectively.
Overall speaking, the size of Antarctic ozone hole rockets in the questioned 20 years. And as for the three types of harmful gases to the ozone hole, while the production of freon saw a steep decline, the emission of both NO2 and H2O2 rose a bit during the said period.
From 1980 to 1985, the amount of emission of Freon was the largest among the three types of destructive gases and reached its highest point (200K) before 1985. Meanwhile, the amount of the production of both NO2 and H2O2 did not change rapidly, which were about 100K and 18K respectively. In these five years, the ozone hole of Antarctic slightly rose from below 50K square kilometers in 1980 to about 70K in 1985.
After 1985, the amount of production of freon witnessed a stunning plummet and finally dropped to 20K. Instead, both the production of NO2 and H2O2 soared in the following years. Around 1993, NO2 substituted freon to become the most produced gases among them, while the H2O2 was still the least produced one. Later, the emission of H2O2 climbed above the amount of Freon in around 1996. With the ups and downs of the amount of three different harmful gases, the size of the ozone hole firstly steeply rose to almost 200K in 1990 and then kept slightly climbing to around 240 in 2000.
