The given line charts illustrate the changes in the size of ozone hole in Antarctic region and the amount of three kinds of gases damaging the ozone layer between 1980 to 2000.
Overall, it is evident that there was a significant increase in the size of ozone hole in Antarctica over the period. While freon was declining dramatically, the obvious increase was witnessed in the amount of NO2 and H2O2.
To specify, the size of ozone hole in Antarctica soared from below 50,000 square kilometers in 1980 to approximately 240,000 square kilometers, which was almost five times higher than the original level. In other words, ozone hole was the most extensive size in 2000.
Moreover, the second line chart showed a declining trend in the amount of freon, which was the largest proportion in the first year of the period at about 200,000 and went down to 20,000 as the lowest figure in 2000. In addition, the amount of NO2 grew steadily from almost 200,000 in 1990 to 240,000 in 2000, while that of H2O2 showed a similar pattern from below 20,000 to above 80,000.
