robustus dinosaurs
The author of the reading and the professor of the listening discuss if the Robustus was a hunter or scavenger. More specifically, while the author supports the idea that they were a scavenger, enumerating three possible explanations. The professor, however, is not on the same wavelength for several reasons. He explains the drawbacks of the writer’s claim in the following paragraphs.
First of all, the writer beings by stating that the Robustus, like other mammals, had a little size to be considered a hunter. Moreover, in the stomach of Robustus, researchers only found dinosaurs egg, supporting the idea that Robustus were not hunters; instead, they could be opportunists. The professor, on the other hand, casts doubt on this point by saying that it is true they were smaller, but they were bigger than baby Psittacousurs dinosaurs. Furthermore, specialists in this area suggest that the relation size mass between the Robustus and that there was found in the Robustus stomach is strong evidence to say they were hunters.
Second, the reading posits that some characteristic of Robustus legs such as their locations and their size is evidence to say that they could not catch prays, because they can not run faster and chase it. The lecturer, however, disagrees with this viewpoint. He compares both the Tasmania devil and the Robustus, and they have similar legs features, short and in the side position. These existing animals can run around fifteen km per hour, and they are successful hunters since Robustus could have had the same abilities to chase prey.
As the final point, the article claims that Robustus teeth should have been left some marks on bones found it in their stomach, supporting the idea that they were hunters. Again, the professor believes there are flaws in the writer’s argument. He holds that the Robustus had a strong jaw, and they did not use their back teeth, they swallowed entire prey or big pieces.
In conclusion, both the author and the professor hold conflicting views about Robustus were hunter dinosaurs. It is clear they will have trouble finding common ground on this issue.
