From 1950 to 2000, although African and Asian people witnessed increasing trends of urban population from roughly 10% to around 39% and from nearly 13% to 39%, respectively, these figure still were lower than those of the whole world, at precisely 30% in 1950 and nearly 48% in 2000. In contrast, the proportion of residents who settled down in Latin American cities were higher than those of the whole world by approximately 12% in 1950 and 22% in 2000.
In terms of prediction of 2030, while the figure of Africa is expected to grow up 50%, that of Asia was roughly 56%. These figures still are lower than that of the world, at exactly 60%. At the same year, the percentage of urban residents in Latin America is estimated up to 80%, which is significantly higher than that of the world.
