the line graph shows visits to and from the UK from 1979 to 1999 the bar chart shows the most popular countries visited by UK residents in 1999
The line graph provides information about changes in the number of UK citizens who visited abroad and the number of foreigners who came to the UK between 1974 and 1999, whilst the bar chart represents the rating of five tourist destinations which were preferred by the UK residents in 1999.
Overall, it can be seen that the visitors to and from the UK English and France was the most preferred tourist place by the UK residents in 1999.
According to the line graph, the number of UK residents who visited foreign countries was higher than the later and it remained higher for the given time period. There was rapid increase in the number of visitors from the UK from 12 millions in 1979 to 20 millions in 1984. From1964 to 1999 they followed a similar pattern of increase at around 10 millions increase in every 5 years and it reach at about 50 millions in 1999. Similarly, the number of visitors to the UK rose significantly from 10 millions in 1979 to near 30 millions in 1999.
From the bar chart, it is clear that France was the most favourite tourist destination of the UK residents at more than 10 millions of visitors. The second most visited place by the UK people was Spain, which had around 10 millions of visitors. However, the USA, Greece and Turkey had less number of visitors when compared to the other two countries at 4, 3 and 2 millions. respectively.
