The table illustrates forest area was estimated by millions of hectares in six different regions of the world in the years 1990, 2000 and 2005.
It is clear that the measurement of forested land only went up in two out of the six parts between 1990 to 2005. The Europe was by far the biggest areas of the world in three years.
In 1990, the forested European area was 989 million hectares, and this rose gradually to 1001 million hectares in 2005. The figures for forested areas in Asia also inclined by 8 million hectares, from 576 million hectares to 584 million hectares within a 15-year period. By contast, there was a fall in the measurements for four parts of the world, namely Africa, North Ameria, Oceania and South America.
The forested land of North America and Oceania had a mere decrease in three years, Oceania was the smallest land, compared to five regions ( with 199 million hectares in 1990 and 197 million hectares in 2005). There was a decline of around 60 million hectares in the forested land in Africa, there was also a decrease, from 946 to 882 million hectares, in the South America forest over a 15-year period.
