More and more people are migrating to cities in search of a better life, but city life can be extremely difficult. Explain some of the difficulties of living in a city. How can governments make urban life better for everyone?
In the recent years, many people are migrating to cities to find a better life, but living in cities is not easy as they think. There are a lot of drawbacks of living in a large metropolis. In my view, government could make urban life become better by some solutions.
Living in the city is a dream of almost all people because it offers to them more jobs and modern services as health care, entertainment. However, living in the city has some difficulty. Firstly, the cost of living is higher than in rural. Because of high standard living, people have to pay higher prices for housing, transportation and food. Another issue is that inhabitants who live in the city tend to suffer from crime rates or traffic jam day by day, Furthermore, the quality of the air or water is not clean and fresh, which is affected by smoke from transportation or factories. This phenomenon can lead to respiratory diseases.
Nevertheless, government could apply some solutions to deal with these problems. First of all, they should develop the rural areas by investing and building more factories or companies to create more jobs for people to reduce amount of people leaving their hometown to seek job. Secondly, they should raise awareness of inhabitants and encourage them to prioritize to use public mean of transportation to limit air pollution and traffic congestion. Finally, penalizing crime strictly is also one of the ways to improve city life. It can reduce crime rate and have a peaceful life.
In brief, living in the city has both negative and positive sides. However, I believe that the government should find out the best methods to improve the quality of the urban area as well as rural area.
