Smart Cars
The written passage and the lecture is about smart cars and their possible advantages and disadvantages. The author thinks overall that smart car technology will bring many benefits to drivers lifes and traffic stiuations itself, while the professor from the listening is highly skeptical to the points which have been introduced by the article.
To begin with, according to the writing passage, within the smart car innovation, in the future car accidents can be eliminated, it claims that there is no doubt that humans do poor job while driving, wheras the professor says, devices and technology can fail occasionaly which means when this failing occurs the amount of involvement by cars would be tremendous.
Secondly, the author claims that smart car technology can solve the traffic problem. Due to the fact that computer-based systems will project the speed of the cars and the other regulations will be made therefore, the commuters will spend less time on traffic. On the other hand, the lecturer says that this situation is far away from being happened, she continues by saying throughout the history people have been built a tendency to use more private cars and this will continue to happen. The more smart cars means there will be more commuters and more cars, since this is the fact the traffic problem would not be solved via smart cars technology.
Lastly, the author point outs that the budged-friendliness of the smart cars by claming there will be no expenses such as reparing breaks and tires since those mentioned cars are not depend on those insturement and they use programmes. However, the professor mentions that in the case of repairment, the smart cars require a great amount of money than the normal cars. This is because the technology which is using to upgrade the smart cars system is quite expensive. She also adds, overall cost would be much more higher than today’s available cars.
