The graph below gives information from 1 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
A glance at the line graph reveals fluctuations on the energy consumption in the USA over a period of 50 years, from 1980 to 2030. Overall, there were two separate trends during this period.
Regarding the first trend which includes nuclear, hydropower, and wind-solar energy, about 2.5 quadrillion units them were used in 1980. These three kinds of energy varied between 1990 and 2008. Since then, they are predicted to remain unchanged until 2030 except for a slight rise for nuclear as well as solar- wind power in the end of 2030.
Besides the gradual trend, the escalating trend includes petrol and oil, coal, and natural gas. It is indicated that just above 15 quadrillion units of coal were used in 1980. This energy soon increased rapidly in 1990-1995 and kept gradually until 2008. It is foreseen that coal will peak at 30 quadrillion units in 2030. Natural gas experienced dramatic fluctuations from 1980 to 2008 with its peak at 23 quadrillion units in 2000. it is projected to remain unchanged until 2030 with 25 quadrillion units.
Petrol and oil had the greatest consumption of all with 35 quadrillion units in 1980 and even though there will be variations in 15 years later, this figure is still estimated to reach the highest consumption of 50 quadrillion units in 2030.
