The line graph gives information about the amount of carbon dioxide per person which was emitted in four different countries over a 40-year period.
Overall, it can be seen that the amount of carbon dioxide emissions per person decreased in two countries, in the UK and Sweden, whereas increased in other two countries, in Italy and Portugal, over the same period, from 1967 to 2007.
Looking at the chart in more detail, it is clear that the UK is the leader whole period, began approximately 11 metric tonnes per person (mt/p) and decreased to about 9 (mt/p) at the end. Sweden showed a similar trend, the amount of carbon dioxide per person which was emitted in 1967 was about 9 metric tonnes. By 1977, this figure had increased to around 11 metric tonnes. Carbon dioxide emissions was almost 6 metric tonnes per person in Sweden at the end of the period.
Turning to the remained data, it is evident that Portugal was the last one at the beginning, emissions of carbon dioxide per person was 1.5 metric tonnes in 1967. This figure increased to over 2 metric tonnes, almost 4 metric tonnes and about 5 metric tonnes, in 1977, in 1987 and in 1997, respectively. Italy showed a similar trend. The amount of carbon dioxide which was emitted was just over 4 metric tonnes per person in 1967, this figure increased significantly to almost 6 metric tonnes per person in 1997 and remained unchanged between 1997 and 2007.
