The charts below show the percentage of volunteers by organizations in 2008 and 2014.
The bar chart illustrates the proportion of people volunteering in various kinds of organizations, in 2008 and 2014.
Overall, while the volunteer participation in art, health care, sport, and environmental organizations increased in the given time, the opposite is true for other types of organizations. In addition, it is noteworthy that in both years, health care remained the least attractive area for volunteers.
In 2008, volunteering in the educational area stood at the top accounting for nearly a quarter of all volunteers. Environmental volunteers lagged behind educational organizations with 21% that was higher than 18% of people volunteering in art organizations. The figure for sport and other organizations is the same at 15% that is roughly twice as the proportion of the health care area.
After 6 years, the volunteer rate of both environmental and sports organizations experienced a significant increase and reached 21% and 29% respectively. In contrast, the figure for art, educational, and other organizations dropped to 12%, 17%, and 9% accordingly. A slight increase in volunteer participation can be seen in health care organization, however, it still held the lowest proportion of people volunteering, which was just 8%.
