Oil use of major consumers

Essay topics:

Oil use of major consumers

The line graph compares figures for daily oil use by major consumers namely the US, China, the Middle East, Western Europe, and Japan between 2009 and 2019.
It is noticeable that there was a downward trend in oil consumption in the US, Western countries, and Japan, as opposed to the figure for China and the Middle East nations. Furthermore, while the US was the biggest oil consumer in each year, the Middle East consumed the lowest amount of oil for the majority of the given period.
In 2009, Americans consumed a total of 10 million barrels of oil per day, compared to 4 million for Western European countries and Japan. During the same year, the daily oil consumption of China and the Middle East area was identical, at 2 million each. Over the following 3 years, there was an upward trend in oil consumption both in China and Middle East nations, with the figures rising to approximately 3.2 million and 2.2 million respectively. By contrast, oil use in Western Europe and Japan fell by 1 million, whereas the figure for the US remained stable.
Over the following 3 years, China and the Middle East saw a steady climb in the amount of oil consumed, with the figures reaching 3 and just under 4 million in 2015, respectively. However, the figure for oil use in the US decreased dramatically to hit a low/trough of 4 million barrels by the end of the period. Similarly, there was a fall of 1 million barrels in the consumption of Western Europe and Japan.
