The line graph illustrates changes in the number of parcels that two main mail services companies, Federal Express (FedEx) and TNT, delivered in a period of 80 years, between 1930 and 2000.
Overall, FedEx used to be the leader in the mail services industry, from 1920 to 1980. However, this position was dominated by TNT from 1990 to 2000.
In 1920, the number of parcels that FedEx delivered was at 15000 items and tripled the one of TNT. After that, TNT was witnessed with a moderate increase in the number of parcels, reached around 12000 parcels in 1960. In terms of FedEx’s delivered parcels, it considerably grew and reached a peak of about 24000 items in 1940. However, it steeply plummeted to a little more than the level of TNT in 1960.
Afterward, the number of delivered parcels of FedEx noticeably rose by roughly 6000 items in 1980 and then leveled off till 2000. Meanwhile, the year of 1990 marked TNT’s substantial success to overtake the market share of FedEx, where the number of delivered parcels approximately doubled to 22000 items and then peaked at just under 25000 parcels in 2000.
