The table below gives information about the five small companies in Britain that came top in a survey of staff conducted by a national newspaper to find out which companies are the best to work for.
The table shows that small companies the best to work for have things in common but also differ from each other. In terms of staff numbers second, third, and fourth companies are extremely similar, however, the first one is comparatively low when the fifth one has a much higher staff number than other companies.
All companies have a higher female proportion than males apart from third and fifth companies. The third company has the highest proportion of male staff, although the fifth company does not have a high rate of male staff. The fourth company has 13 to 87 proportions of females which is the highest female proportion.
Some companies have fairly similar percentages of staff that are under 35s and they do not have any staff over 55s, while the second company has 1% and the fourth company has 8% of staff that are over 55s. The fifth company has the highest percentage of staff that are under 35 besides, as for staff turnover this company has the highest percentage with 33%. Nevertheless, the first company has the lowest percentage of staff turnover. Concerning staff earning high incomes, the second one has about half, the third one about three quarters while the first one has lower and the other two companies have far lower percentages.
The overall picture is that all companies are slightly different and have different advantages that make them popular even though salaries do not seem to be a major factor.
