Both the reading and the lecture are about solar energy and its benefits. The reading claims that solar energy has multiple benefits and provides the examples for the same. The lecturer provides more support to the benefits stated in the reading.
First of all, The reading states that the solar energy can be replacement for the non-renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels. As, the humans are consuming fossil fuels at faster rate, we can avoid the fear of lack of needed energy by replacing it with solar energy. In addition, the reading posits that the solar energy is non-pollutant and can help us in reducing the deadly pollution caused by fossil fuels. Finally, The reading explains that the long time cost of solar energy is very low. Apart from the initial installation of solar panels, the cost spent on solar panels will be very low.
The lecturer supports the above benefits by saying that the even though the solar panels are produced from fossil fuels, the long term energy produced from panels will clearly much higher than the energy needed to make the panels and benefits us in the long term. The lecturer also mentions multiple financial benefits. Firstly, apart from producing the energy needed for us, we can also produce additional energy and sell the energy produced. Secondly, we can get the tax benefits by installing the solar panels.
