The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about the consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030.
The past, present, and the future of energy consumption of the USA from 1980 to 2030 is brought for discussion from a report of the year 2008.
The main sources of energy consumptions represented in the report are petrol and oil, coal, natural gas, nuclear energy, solar/ wind energy, hydropower. In the past, the present, and future, the fuels such as petroleum and oil remain the highest in demand, with a graphical representation showing an upward climb, up to a maximum of 50 quadrillion units.
The least used source of energy is hydropower, which has seen very less variation and maintains a quantity of less than 5 quadrillion units, throughout the 5-decade statistics. Nuclear solar and wind energy experience similar but slightly increased consumption rates in the USA.
On the other hand, coal and natural gas consumption started around nearly 16 and 20 quadrillion units and have a slow but consistent increase in its usage.
Hence these statistics project that petrol and oil are the most used, in-demand energy for consumption in the USA.
