The pie chart illustrates the amount of power generated in New Zealand and Germany using 5 different fuel sources. The figures are given for the years 1980 and 2010.
Overall, it can be seen that the total electricity production increased dramatically in both the countries. Although the totals for both the countries were almost similar there were big differences in the fuel sources used.
To begin, coal was used to produce 56 of the total 127 units of electricity in New Zealand in 1980, which rose to 150 out of 200 units In 2010. By contrast Nuclear power became the most important fuel source in Germany, producing almost 75% of the country's electricity.
Hydropower usage increased from 30 to 46 units in New Zealand during the period, but the amount of electricity produced using this type of power fell fro. 7 to only 2 units in Germany. Pertroleuam on the other hand remained a relatively important power source in Germany but its use declined in New Zealand(11 to only 2 units). Both the countries relied on natural gases for electricity production significantly more in 1980 than in 2010.
