Both the reading and the lecture discuss about a medical research on animals known as Vivisection. Whereas, the reading states that animals are an important factor in the development of this clinical research, and on respective research animals don’t suffer pain. Contrary to this idea, the speaker claims that it is not fair to use animals to develop drugs, because it doesn't matter what scientist say, they’re wounded.
In the first place, the article says that animals are not damage because researches used anesthesia to avoid pain. The speaker doesn't agree with this idea, and expresses that the professors and scientists want to justify the use of animals to experiment. They say that some species are very similar to people, and by testing drugs on picks or rats human deaths can be avoided. However, the listener says that this don't justify the use of animals, because they feel pain as humans do.
Second, the article claims that there are not substitute for animals because they respond in the same way to drugs as human beings do. Nevertheless, the speaker thinks that there are other methods that might replace animals. Even more, there are some drugs that have been discovering without the participation of any species to experiment. For instances, scientists may cultivate human tissues and drugs might be tested on these. Also, there are computers that simulate human beings, so, this as well provides another alternative.
Finally, the speaker disagrees with the use of animals because she considers that we need their consent to make experiment on them, also they have the right to live.
