The graph illustrates the statistic of energy consumption in the United States over the course of 40 years starting in 1980 and projected to 2030.
Overall, looking at the graph, it is immediately obvious that petrol oil and coal experienced a significant upward trend while other sources of energy demonstrate some fluctuation throughout the period. By the way, the usage of petrol and oil power accounts for the highest and the consumption of hydropower presents the lowest.
Over the period, petrol and oil are the dominant fuel sources with 35 units was used in 1980. This figure fluctuated from 1980 to 1995 then maintained a steady increase and expected to continue rising until reaching over 45 units in 2030. A similar trend was witnessed in the usage of coal and natural gas with the starting point of over 5q and 20q respectively. However, gas showed an initial fall and coal has a gradual increase. Then, both of them are equally used in 2015 with about 24 units. Coal is projected to surge to 31q while gas remains 24q in 2030.
In 1980, energy from nuclear, solar, and hydropower was equally used with 4q. Over the period, nuclear rose to 6q, meanwhile, the two left kinds of power oscillated. These numbers are predicted to maintain this level until 2030 except for a slight increase in nuclear and solar/wind power.
