The bar chart below gives information on the amount of time, expressed in billions of minutes, spent by British on telephone calls, in the years between 1995 and 2002. The calls are divided into three groups depending on their typology.
Overall, the amount of time used in calls has been growing significantly during this period. In particular, the trend of mobile calls has increased steadily, and local and national/international fixed lines fluctuated and grew slightly, respectively.
The local fixed lines had a peak of usage in 1999 when they reached the highest value in the chart with approximately 90 billions minutes. However, during the following 3 years this number went down to 70 billions, the same amount it had in 1995. On the other side, the usage of National and International fixed line had a gradual and constant grow until the last year reported, when it counted just over 60 billions minutes.
The usage of mobiles, which were very uncommon in 1995, with approximately 3 billions minutes of usage, has experienced a steady increase over the years, up to just above 45 billions minutes, fifteen times the starting value.
