The line graph compares how many books males and females read at one particular public library between 2011 and 2014.
It is clear that more number of women read books than men by 2013. However, a significant rise can be seen in the number of books read by male readers, with figures eventually surpassing those for females in the same year. Overall, the numbers of both male and female saw an upward trend over the majority of the period.
In 2011, the female readers read more books than male readers by approximately 2,000 books. Just one year later, the gap between the numbers of books read by two sexes had widened significantly. By 2012, the number of books read by females rose dramatically to 8,000, whereas that of books read by males saw only a small increase to 4,000.
From 2012 and 2013, the figures for both genders rose to the same point of 10,000 books. By 2014, the number of books read by males saw a substantial rise to a peak of 14,000. By contrast, the figures for women fluctuated between 8,000 and 10,000 between 2012 and 2014.
