The given diagrams depicts the working of a wave-energy machine and the locations in which these machines can be placed in the ocean.
The basic structure of the machine is that there are two chambers, namely an upper and a lower chamber. The upper chamber is where the electricity will be generated and a lower chamber is where the water will be enetering.
As we can see in the first diagram, the sea water enters the lower chamber because of the waves, thereby increases the amount of water and compress the air in the lower chamber and the air flows into the upper chamber. Now this air is used as a propellent to spin the turbines. These turbines are connected to the electrictiy generator and as the turbines spins, this generate the electricity.
Now moving on to the second diagram which implies the pros and cons of building these machines near the shore or far away inside the ocean.
The pros of installing the machine near the shore is that installation costs will be less and the con will be lower output by the machine beccause of smaller waves.
On the other hand, the advantage if builing this machine far into the ocean is the higher ouput because of larger waves in that location, whereas the cons will the construction costs will be high.
