The graph below shows consumers' average annual expenditure on cell phone, national and international fixed-line and services in America between 2001 and 2010.
The line graph compares the yearly spending on mobile phone, national landline and oversea fixed-line services in the United States from 2001 to 2010.
Overall, there was an upward trend in the amount of money spending on cell phone services while the opposite was true for the figures for national landline services. Also, the 9-year-period witnessed an insignificant change in international fixed-line spending.
Leading the chart at $700 in 2001, the expenditure of national line services however decreased gradually, reaching $600 in 2003. By contrast, with the spending of about $200 and $250, the mobile phone and international fixed-line figures respectively went up at the similar pattern, both stood at $300 over the next two years. After that, while the former dropped slightly before remained unchanged at $300, the latter experienced a continual rise in 2006 to the same $600 as comparing to the national landline spending.
From 2006, the American expenditure of cell phone service increased remarkably to become the top 1 spending in the end, at around $750. With approximately $150 lower, the second rank belonged to the residential fixed line in 2010. During the same 6-year-period left, there was a stability in the figure for oversea phone services, remaining its lowest position till the end.
