The table below shows social and economic indicators for four countries in 1994, according to United Nations statistics.

The table illustrates the statistical report of the United Nations regarding four different determinants (social and economic) of four countries of the world namely Canada, Japan, Peru, and Zaire in 1994.
Broadly speaking, all socioeconomic indicators ranked higher for the developed nations like Canada and Japan whereas for developing and underdeveloped countries like Peru and Zaire indicators were pretty low. Overall, Japan is ahead of every nation in most of the indicators, while Zaire had reported the least.
Given a close look at the data, Japan had the highest annual income of $US 15,760 as opposed to Zaire which ranked the lowest at $US 130. Similarly, Canada and Peru held the second-highest and lowest annual income of $US11,100 and $US160 respectively. In regards to the Adult literacy rate, developed nations (Canada and Japan) showed exactly the same figure of 99% whereas Zaire had half the rate as Peru.
On the other hand, people of Canada consumed about 450 calories more than that of Japan while the calorie intake for Peru and Zaire remained below 2000 calories. The developed nations (Canada and Japan) had almost similar rates of life expectancy of 76% to 78%. Conversely, developing and underdeveloped countries Peru and Zaire reported life expectancy in their fifties.
