The chart below shows the different levels of post-school qualifications in Australia and the proportion of men and women who held them in 1999.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The following chart illustrates what proportion of females and males in Australia held distinctive post-school degrees in 1999.
As can be clearly observed from the chart, there are two different groups based on each qualification in which men or women were more interested. First group includes skilled vocational diploma, postgraduate diploma, and master’s degree. Far more males held skilled vocational diploma than females, around 90% in comparison with 10%. While nearly 60% of males were holder of master’s degree, (though 40% of females), the percentage was a bit more in postgraduate diploma by 70% versus 30% of females.
Turning to second group which consists of undergraduate diploma and bachelor’s degree. Females were far more interested than males in both degrees, with approximately 55% and more than 70%, respectively. By contrast, the proportions of men in these qualifications were 45% and 30% in a row.
Overall, it is clear from the chart that, whereas undergraduate and bachelor’s degrees were more popular among females, men were more interested in postgraduate and master’s degrees. Meanwhile, far more men, seemingly disproportionately, than women were holder of job-related diploma in 1999.
