The graph below shows the unemployment rates of US and Japan between March 1993 and March 1999.

The following graph illustrates what percentage of workforce in US and Japan suffered from being unemployed during March 1993 to March 1999.
As can be clearly observed from the graph, unemployment rate in US was downward, while it was upward in Japan. Unemployment rate in US initiated from 7% in March 1993. Unlike some fluctuations during 1994 and 1995, it declined significantly to around 5.5% in 1995. America’s unemployment rate went up to about 6% after Mach 1995. From March 1996 onward, there was a remarkable fall to less than 5% till 1998. Between March 1998 and March 1999, it fluctuated more or less around 5%.
Turning to Japan’s trend, unemployment rate experienced a drastic increase from 2.5% of March 1993 to nearly 4.5% in March 1996. Whereas it went down to under 4% after March 1996, it rose dramatically to more than 5% until 1998. Then, a decline to a bit less than 5% in March 1999 was observable.
Overall, it is clear from the graph that, the rates of both America and Japan became equal in March 1998. At the next one year, unemployment rates of US and Japan had slight fluctuations around 5%, while before March 1998, the rate of US was far greater than Japan’s.
