the maps below show the xentre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development
The maps illustrate the current Islip town with its proposed changes in the future
As can be seen from the plans, the Islip town centre will undergo significant changes in regard to the road, shops, housing areas and other amenities.
Looking at the map as it is now, there is a main road running across this town center from west to east. In the second map, the central area will be pedestrianized and the traffic will be diverted to a dual carriageway that form a circular shape around this area. Currently, there are 2 rows of shops on either side of the main road. However, it seems that the row on the north side of the main road will be demolished to make way for the bus station, shopping centre, car park and now housing respectively from West to East. Even though the row of shops on the south side of the main road remains intact, the town's park will subtantially reduce in size to make way for housing and new housing area. Last but not least, the school and a housing area still exist outside the circular area but there is a slight extension of the former and a negligible relocation of the later.
