Overall, what the graph implies is that the higher the school level in each country, the longer the teaching hours. Among the four countries, the USA's teachers spent more time teaching their students, while the Japanese teachers had been passed less time to teach than all others.
To begin with, in 2001 the US's primary teachers taught around 150 hours more compared with the rest of the three countries. Japan and Iceland utilized 600 and approximately 595 hours respectively, while Spain used 650 hours in the whole year to instruct their pupils. Moreover, the teachers of the USA gave 1000 hours to the lower secondary pupils. In the case of the other three countries the range between 600 to 750 hours.
Turning to upper secondary, Japanese teachers gave the least amount of time among the four countries which were 700 hours. On the other hand, almost 1200 hours the scholars had been got from their instructors in the USA in 2001. Spain and Iceland had spent around 900 hours on this purpose.
