The bar chart compares the incidents and injuries caused by 5 different kinds of transportation every 100 million miles commuters travelling in 2002
Overall, in all sorts of trannportation, incidents outnumber injuries. Also,demand response was recorded with the highest number of incidents and injuries, while commuter rail was the least dangerous mode of transportation.
In 2002, passengers found it most dangerous when travelling by demand response, which was witnessed with the biggest gap between 225 incidents and 173 injuries per 100 million miles travelled. In contrast, the safest vehicle at that time was commuter rail when there were only 20 incidents and 17 injuries reported, which were 10 times lower than those of demand response
As far as bus, heavy and light rail are concerned, there was a same number of incidents caused by bus and light rail, which was 76. However, the injuries recorded between these vehicles were far different when the figure for bus ( 66 injuries ) nearly doubled the other one with 39 injuries. Finally, heavy rail was reported with 51 incidents and 35 incidents per 100 million passenger miles travelled
