The given chart illustrates the sum of gold, silver, and bronze medals collected from Olympic games by 12 countries, including American, European, and Asian ones.
Overall, American athletes won the highest number of medals in all three types while the lowest amount belongs to the Japanese. Besides, except for the USA and the Soviet Union, the ten other countries won almost the same lower amount.
At first glance, the Americans won the largest medals collection, which was about 2300 in sum. To be more specific, that total number consisted of about 900 gold medals, nearly 800 silver and 600 bronze ones.
At a second glance, the United States medals total amount was more than twofold the collection of the Soviet Union, which is the second largest collection. It was also nearly threefold of the UK and France and almost fourfold higher than the others. Especially compared to the Japanese collection, which was only 300 in sum.
