The diagram below shows how the Australian Bureau of Meteorology
collects up-to-the-minute information on the weather in order to produce
reliable forecasts.
The illustration gives information about the collection precise information on weather up until the last minute by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology to provide reliable weather forecast.
Overall, the information is collected by multiple sources such as satellite, radar, and drifting buoy, which then is analysed by a computer and finally broadcasted to the people through the medium of TV, radio, or recorded announcement.
The first souce of information from the satellite is received as a photograph of an area. This photograph is analyzed based on the cloud movements and patterns to forecast. Radars are the second source of information. A radar screen shows the movement of clouds which is further analyzed. The last source is the drifting buoy which sends a synoptic chart of the sea/ocean. All the information is combined and a forecast is made.
The above forecast needs to be delivered to the people of the nation. This is majorly done via three mediums. Television newsreader reads the this prediction and delivers it to the public. Next, is the radio. Finally the third medium is via a recorded announcement sent on telephones.
