The line graphs represent a differentiation between local and foreign students who enrolled in courses in Australian universities from 2001 to 2010.
Overall, what stands out from the graphs is that in terms of overseas students both lines followed a similar trend increasing. On the other hand, the number of local students rose up to a certain time then remained the same.
To begin with the total number, in 2001, 400000 regional students were admitted in the universities, while the number of international pupils was far less than local which was 20000. Then up to 2007, both lines had similar characteristics, whereas after that period the number of neighborhood scholars remained at 600000 till the end. On the contrary, the value of foreign students was continuously increasing and in 2010 the figure went to over 80000.
Turning to the commencing students, over the years the figure of local students fluctuates, while in 2002, the value was the peak which was approximately 230000. Then it decreased gradually until 2006 which closed to 190000, after that, it rose but not much above its peak value. From the beginning till the end the value rose incessantly but slowly to 40000.
