The charts below show the percentage of water used for different purposes in six areas of the world
The six pie charts compare the proportion of water was used by six regions in the world for three purposes including industrial, agricultural and domestic. Overall, it can be seen that agriculture is the common demand for water in the world except for North America and Europe.
People in North America and Europe use the highest percentage of water for industrial use, at 48% and 53% respectively while this is the lowest figure in South America. Just 39% of water in North America and 32% of that in Europe are used for agriculture, whereas South America use three-fourths percentage for this purpose. The proportion of water uses for domestic is lowest in North America and Europe, at 13% for the former and 15% for the latter.
Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia witness the hight proportion of water for agriculture, at 84%, 88% and 81% respectively. Interestingly, Central Asia and South East Asia have the same figure for domestic water, at 7%. The pecentage of water is used for industrial in Southeast East Asia is 12%, which is nearly twice as much as the figure in Central Asia.
