The given line charts compare the enrollments of international students and local students in various universities of Australia over the decade and present how many of them actually joined the universities.
Overall, overseas students’ enrollments kept increasing sharply every year throughout the ten years period, whereas the line graph of local students gradually increased till 2007 and then it was stable. Similar way commencement of international students started showing exponential rise until 2009 and it was slightly higher in 2010. On the contrary same graph for local students shows the fluctuation throughout the period, but there is no significant growth by the end of 2010.
Enrollment of foreign students increased four times and reached 80,000 students between 2001 to 2010, however even at the peak point of the line it was less than 15% of the registration of local students in the same year. Moreover, there was a plateau in the enrollment of local students from 2007 to 2010.
On the other hand, out of total registrations, almost 60% of foreign students actually joined any of the Australian universities in 2001. Noticeably, this percentage started declining through the decade and only 50% of registered students could join in 2010. As per the chart, less than 50% of enrolled students joined universities. There was a small jump in the count of commenced local students in 2002 but then there was a slight trough between 2002 and 2008. At the end of latter two years, this numbers reached 200 thousand.
