In the last decade, professional sports got popular like never before, because of which the athletes and the various business associated with them grown reacher. There is a portion of the population who believe that it has a detrimental effect on sports as well as society, Whereas the other portion thinks in the contrast. I certainly agree with the thought process of the latter group of people.
At the outset, people who assume that professional sports turning into a business with high monetary value feared that it will belittle the value of sports and make players more money-oriented. The most important reason to think this way can be that there are myriad companies trying to promote their brand and products to mass and nothing can be a better channel to do that than sports match broadcast. Hundreds of people are already present in the stadium at the same time thousands of other people are watching it on television. And for that purpose, such organizations prompt athletes from that sport, which promises them to be more popular and financially uplifted. Therefore, any player is likely to focus more on getting renowned than playing better for the team or country.
However, another pivotal facet of this argument is that making professional sports a business will not just help sports to be popular but will also encourage many youngsters to play them. The advertisements through the good player will help the public to relate themselves with the athlete as well as sport. Another key point that should be considered is that when sports authority starts earning through such promotions in between the match, they get the flexibility to arrange better facilities for the sportsperson which may eventually help them to perform better in the future. At the last, young people will start considering sports as one of their career opportunities instead of just a hobby.
Considering the aforementioned discussion, I strongly suggest that the advantages of professional sports becoming a high-earning business is outweighing the disadvantages and therefore I support the idea that it should find ways to involve more business with it and help athletes for the betterment of their lives.
