The diagram below shows the changes, which took place in a coastal area called Pentland from 1950 to 2007. Write a report for a university lecturer describing the diagrams below.
The two maps below illustrate the evolution of Pentland, which is a coastal town, over a period of 27 years starting in 1980.
Overall, the layout of this location in 2007 was quite the same as the one in 1980. In 1980, almost all the area in Pentland was grassland However, there has been a lot of residential, commercial, and service development over the period given, including the construction of a yacht marina, shop houses, villas, and entertainment facilities, namely a swimming pool and a cinema.
First, there was an intersecting road that divided Pentland into four different areas. Two side roads were there, one to the left, which led to an industrial zone, and the other to the right, straight ahead to the car park at the end of the road, as well as the main road, which leads directly to the ocean in the north of town. The two bisecting roads were not demolished and remained unchanged in 2007, except for a half-circled road that was built around the yacht marina, which linked to the original straight road. Yet, various locations were altered throughout the period given.
Furthermore, it can be clearly seen that numerous shops were opened along the northern sides of both roads. The industrial area, located in the northwest region of the town in 1980, was demolished and renovated into a contemporary multi-story car park, which was combined with a new swimming pool and a park that was adjacent to the road that surrounded the yacht marina in 2007. On the opposite side of the main road, the car park in the east of the town was removed and many apartments were established on the upper left hand of the road that ran from west to east, bordering a half-circulated road. Additionally, in the southeast corner of the Pentland, there were a plethora of villas, whilst a new cinema was constructed on the south-western side of the Pentland.

- Many museums and historical sites are mainly visited by tourists but not local people Why is in the case and what can be done to attract more local people to visit these places 87
