In general, while the number of people under 18 years old in Utah is the highest, Florida has the most senior citizens. Also, the average income per person and the percentage of poor people both take first place in California.
Regarding the age of the population, Utah had the largest proportion of people under 18 with 28%. Following that is California, which is 1% more than Florida (16%). In contrast, the number of elderly people occupies 23% in Florida, which is nearly fourth times more than Utah, at 8%. Also, California records relatively 13% of people aged over 60.
In terms of the income per capita, people in California earn $23,000 on average, which is also the highest, followed by Florida and Utah, resulting in $22,000 and $17,000 respectively. Interestingly, although California has the highest average income, it also experiences the highest percentage of people below the poverty line, at 16% as opposed to that in Utah, which is only 9%. Lastly, the figure for Florida stands at 12%.
