The graph and chart below give information about species extinctions and the threats to plant life
Given is the bar graph illustrating the data on extinct animals from 2000 to 2010 while the pie chart presents the figure for threats to plant life.
Overall, it is evident that extinction rates are increasing from 2000 to 2060. It is noticeable that the percentage of human impact is higher than natural events.
A more detailed look at the pie chart reveals that the rate of people’s influence is four times more than natural events. For people’s effect, plantations account for the least percentage, at 4.7% while agriculture has the most proportion, at 18.7%. The figure for invasive species is lower compared to disturbance, at 4.9% and 5.3% respectively, whereas the data on logging is higher than livestock, from 9.7% and 7.7%. Besides, the proportion of harvesting is higher compared to development, at 14.4% and 10.4%, and other human influences take up 5.4%. For natural events, the percentage of natural disasters is less than other natural events, at 7% and 11.2%.
Moving onto the pie chart, it can be clearly seen that between 2000 and 2020, the rate of species extinctions increased slightly from 5.000 million to 10.000 million while with the prediction from 2060 to 2100, the number of species extinctions decrease steeply from 59.000 million to 30.000 million. In contrast, with the prediction between 2040 and 2060, the data on those species grow rapidly, from 25.000 million to 50.000 million.
