The table below shows information and predictions regarding the change in percentage of the population aged 65 and above in three countries.
The table reveals the percentage of people aged 65 and above in three different countries, namely Canada, Germany, Britain during the 12 - year period, starting from 1988, and the projections for 2030.
Overall, it is clear that the percentage of the German population aged 65 and over was the highest over the period. Moreover, the rate of those of all the regions mentioned in 2000 showed an upward trend, even in the projected year 2030.
In 1988, the proportion of citizens aged 65 and over in German was 20%, while the figure for that in Canada and Britain stood at 16% and 14%, in that order. A similar pattern was recorded in 2000 due to the proportion of the population aged 65 and over in the three countries with marginal growth. In particular, the German population rate reached the highest level at 25%, followed by Canada at 21% and the UK at 15%.
It is estimated that the proportion of the German population will gradually increase by 5% in 2030. The second highest in Canada will be just 4% less than in Germany. Meanwhile, the proportion of people in the UK will continue to be in last place at 20%.
