Consumed about 350kwh by New Yorkers in 1980, Petroleum was by far the highest sources of energy which supplied New York city. New York experienced a sharp fluctuation in the amount of electricity production from petroleum before rocking sharply over the last period of 10 years and reached a peak of 700kwh in the last year.
Turning to coal and natural gas, from 1980 to 1985, New York witnessed a climb up in the number of people using coal. However, there was a period of stability in the amount of electricity produced from natural gas before it surged significantly and overtook that from coal over the last period of the mentioned years.
