The table summary demonstrates proportion of land used for forest in various areas of the globe.
Of the data gathered, the most forest area was in Europe with amount of arround 1000 millions ha, followed by South America in the second position with arround 900 millons ha. By contrast, the lowest position belongs to Ocenia with figures less than 200 million ha. Other areas contain Africa, Asia, North and South America.
Some countries illustrates the decrease trend over 15 years. Africa started at 749 mils in 1990 and dramatically dropped to 691 mils in 2005. It’s the same as South America, 2005’s figures declined signficalty 65 mils ha compared to 1990. 2 other countries share the same slight fall are North America and Occenia. The amount in 2005 in North America and Occenia are 705 and 197 consequently, versus 708 and 199 in 15 years ago.
Conversely, both countries seeing the upward trend in ha of forest area are Asia and Europe. Asia’s number rised from 576 to 584, and Europe’s figures moved up from 989 to 1001 in 15 years.
