The maps below show a plan of a city in 1950 and at the present. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The given maps shed lights on the development of a city for the time being compared to its previous arrangement in 1950.
As can be seen from the map, the town has gone through a striking expansion and reconstruction so as to accommodate it incredibly increasing populations.
It is clear that the housing area and business district have been enlarged during the given period, the airport in the South-East of the city has also been extended in order to satisfy the need of the ten-fold growth in population, at around 200000 people at the moment. Apart from some main roads and the government building, which were kept intact during the renovation, the city witnessed the emergence of a lake in the heart of the area, which used to be a part of the river in 1950, accordingly, new roads and a new bridge have been built with the aim of not only connecting two sides of the riverbank but also improve the area’s accessibility. The erection of a dam with a view to hold on water is also a part of the construction plan of the city.
