The line chart illustrates the change of the quantity of visitors (in million) in a Caribbean island from 2010 to 2017.
Overall, the figure increased every year except for the year 2016 where it remained unchanged. In addition, the number of people preferring staying on cruise ships to island witnessed a remarkable growth and that of the other option also rose over the period.
The year 2011 registered the increase of tourists choosing cruise ships for their trip from 0,25 to 0,5 and the stability of those who chose to stay on island, at 0,75. In the next year, less people stayed on ships as the number decreased by 0,25 while the number of people staying on island saw a sudden rise from 0,75 to 1,25. One year after that, the figure for both options increased by 0,25.
From 2013 to 2015, more and more people spent their time on ships as the number in 2015 was 2,5 times that in 2013, with 1,25. However, the number of those who preferred staying on island remained stable at 1,5 through the course. In the last three years of the period, the figure for tourists staying on cruise ships witnessed a continuous growth from 1,25 to 2 whereas that of those having a different choice saw a small dip and then increased to 1,5. Noticeably, the total visitors to this island at the end of the period was 3 times that in the beginning.
