The given bar chart illustrates the expenditure of households in one country in 2 years, 1968 and 2018, categorised in various aspects.
Overall, the majority of households spent more budget on food while fuel and energy only occupied a small share.
To begin with, in 1968, the families in this countries spent more than 35% of their weekly income on food, taking up the largest part. Also, only around 10% of income were spent for accommodation, clothing items or leisure activities. Apart from the abovementioned categories, energy, items related to household and personal use as well as transportation only represent just below 10% of the spending on a weekly basis.
Turning to the other part of data, in 2018, the proportion of expenses for recreational activities witness a dramatic rise and became the most spent criterion (over 20%), follow by its housing and food counterparts with the percentages stood at around 18% and 16% respectively. It is also recorded that the percentages of other criteria remained under 10%, with the exception for transport, which occupied fairly higher (14%).
