The given charts show how much an average family in UK earned and how they spent on food and clothes between 2010 and 2013.
Overall, there was a decline in the average income of an ordinary family living in the UK, while the spending on food and clothes of them experienced an increase. Particularly, the expenditure on clothes and meat and fish fell in 2013, meanwhile, the figures for dairy products and fruits and vegetables rose between the 2 years.
The total income of an average family in the UK started at 29,000 pounds, after which it saw a decrease by 4000 pounds in the year 2013. In contrast, their spending on food and clothes climbed up from 14000 pounds to 15000 pounds between 2010 and 2013.
22 percent and 25 percent of the family's income were spent on clothes and meat and fish, both followed by a sharp decrease by 10 percent of the spending in 2013. In addition, the figures for the expenditure on dairy products and fruits and vegetables were 15 percent and 20 percent in the first year, which then increased to 20 percent and 35 percent respectively in the final year of the period. Additionally, the money which the family used to buy other food and drinks remained unchangeable at 18 percent throughout the period.
