The given chart illustrates how meat and poultry consumption in the USA change between 1955 and 2012.
Overall, there is a decrease in the use of beef and pork in the USA, while the consumption of 2 types of poultry experience an increase, with broilers' consumption enjoying the most considerable growth to become by far the most popular from 2009 onwards.
The pounds of beef consumed started at 56 pounds, after which it reached a peak of 90 pounds before declining to about 53 pounds at the beginning of 2012. The consumption of this meat is predicted to fall by approximately 3 pounds at the end of the year. In addition, the figures for the use of pork fluctuated continuously and is forecasted to decrease from 50 pounds in 1955 to around 43 pounds.
In the period of 6 years at the beginning, there was no consumption of broilers and turkey, after which the American started consuming at about 17 and 5 pounds respectively and gradually increased their use to about 60 and 12 pounds at the beginning of 2012. Besides, the figure for the use of broilers is likely to decline slightly to 55 pounds, while the consumption of turkey is going to remain stable at about 12 pounds in December 2012.
